Getting gifts on Valentine's Day hasn't ever really been an issue with me. I've gotten gifts over the years, and I have loved them. They have never been forced, they've always been from the heart. I love those kind. I would prefer a few tulips, or a bouquet of wild flowers over a dozen roses.
This year, my husband bought me a beautiful basket of flowers! They are gorgeous and diverse! He and I met up for lunch and he was teased mercilessly by his coworkers at his lack of getting a gift for me. I laughed and laughed until my stomach hurt! Not an hour later, he came home and brought me these:
He told me that he had planned on getting me tulips, but they didn't have any. So, he got these. It wasn't even the teasing, he was going to anyway! How sweet! There may not be any tulips in it, but I love them just as much. Thank you, my wonderful husband for such a thoughtful gift!
The fun of Valentine's Day for me, is to GIVE! I love to give all my boys little gifts. Most of the time it's very simple, a small package with candy. This year though, I decided to do a little more. I got them cute (by girl standards) little boxes and filled them with sweets. Then I saw the huge Hershey's Kisses. My sweet Caleb loves them and calls them chocolate tornadoes. So, that had to be given. Then, just yesterday, I stumbled upon two huge Reese's Peanut Butter hearts. The only two left. Guess who likes Reese's? It worked out perfectly! On top of those treats for them, they each get a card. Which, in all actuality, will be tossed in the trash by bedtime. Yep, that's boys for ya! I also decorated the table! I would have loved to do it for breakfast, and surprise them when they come downstairs, but we all wake up at different times. So, dinner table it is! Here is what it looks like:
I can't wait to see their faces! I think they secretly love when I do this kind of thing! Boy or not! To top it all off, I have planned a wonderful dinner of baked penne with italian sausage. Red, to match the theme. Yeah, cheesy, I know, but, WHO CARES! It's so fun!
I hope you all have a very wonderful Valentine's Day.
